My Candle Making Story

My Candle Making Story

Hi, I'm Hannah - the creator of Time to Burn.

I am focused on creating fully handmade eco-friendly, natural candles, tealights and Jesmonite homewares, made with soy wax and essential oils. I set up Time to Burn Candles in an attempt to escape from my newly-diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis chronic pain.

A few years on and I am much better but now I live, eat and breathe candles! And I mean that...I think about my wonderful business most of my waking life! I have so much passion for my creations!

I made the decision to branch into hosting candle making workshops, in which I teach people how to create the perfect scent blend to suit them, using natural essential oils. It is such a lush way to bring people together and as a sociable person, it is also an amazing social for me too! I LOVE meeting the lovely folks that come and make candles with me!

I also make all of my candle jars by hand using an ecofriendly resin called Jesmonite. I have an obsession with mixing new pigments to create different colours!

My focus is on clean, natural candles and eco-conscious materials that are as kind to the environment and planet as possible. My health issues have forced me to search for a cleaner way of life, and so I pass this on through my candle making! I use essential oils and soy wax and my packaging is eco-friendly and sustainable wherever possible.

Candles shouldn't only be a light to fill your home with warmth and cosiness, it should also fill your room with a beautiful scent. There are those who simply want a clean unscented light, and for those, I offer unscented tealights, which also fit perfectly into wax melt burners.

But for those scent-lovers, I have curated a range of fresh, fruity, floral, herbal, woody and spicy scents - shop by scent collection in the main menu.

All my fragrances are created by blending 100% natural essential oils and soy wax. Both are natural alternatives to the synthetic and toxic candles and melts found in most paraffin and fragrance oil candles in big stores.

If you ever find yourself saying "I could buy that in Primark for half the price" I would say that until you try buying from a small handmade business, you don't know what you're missing!
